Do you find it challenging to answer the question “How are you feeling?” Or perhaps you find yourself wondering about your feelings, unable to fully understand them?
Well my friend, if you aren't used to identifying your feelings then it's new for you - and I’m happy to say that you are not alone!
Just like anything you’re working on, the more you practice the better you get at it, and I am here to help!
In the chart below there are some feeling words that you can use to complete the two different feeling sentences to help you start understanding and connecting to your feelings.
As you read the words take notice of the beliefs that you hold for each of them. Perhaps you have a negative or positive association to a word? The point is to take mental notes so that you can strengthen your emotional self awareness.
Remember you’re doing this work because you want to feel the feelings. Acknowledging and getting to know your feelings allows you to understand yourself at a much deeper level. So go ahead, be curious and give it a try!
Remember, the only way to explore and understand your feelings is to feel them through. Even if you’ve been numbing them for years, they are still there waiting to be felt - and using this chart will help you start your journey to understanding your emotions.
